During our HAPPENING: Poetry Nights, we celebrate poets who, among other things, identify as newcomers, refugees, or immigrants.
Poetry inhabits many geographical locations and speaks in different languages and accents. As an immigrant, a writer’s linguistic, cultural, and political accents may mark them as an “outsider” among fellow writers and poets. However, their dedication regardless of barriers becomes an act of resistance.
